The curriculum at Hallbridge Preparatory is highly based in case studies, research topics, and projects. We tend to focus in hands on learning.

Each child has his or her own learning rate and we do not limit the child to the curriculum of the grade level but we allow the child to move beyond their level by providing individualized educational plans.

Generally, at the Kindergarten level the focus of study revolves around mastering reading skills as well as addition and subtraction. Children are introduced to world geography through investigations and science starts revolving around projects and experiments. In language arts children are introduced to nouns, verbs, and adjectives. Spanish is introduced as a second language.

At the 1st grade level, children are introduced to multiplication and division. Children begin mastering money and time concepts. Grammatical structure starts to focus on subject and predicate. Creative writing starts to flourish using correct punctuation. Science and Social studies revolve around projects, experiments and case studies. Research starts to deepen in world studies through investigations. French is introduced as a third language.

At the 2nd grade level we focus in mastering multiplication and division as well as multi step word problems. Creative writing and grammatical structure continue to flourish. Research and experiments deepen in science, social studies, and world studies. Italian is introduced as a fourth language.

At the 3rd grade level we focus in mastering fractions and decimals. Geometry is introduced at this level. Creative writing continues to deepen through different project such as play scripts and debate speeches. Children at this level start researching online social studies, science, and world study topics.

At the 4th and 5th grade levels children are introduced to pre-algebraic concepts such as negative numbers as well as algebraic equations. World History becomes a heavy topic of research at this time and it joins world geography research to take a deeper understanding of the world we live in. Science continues to deepen through concepts of anatomy and physiology, as well as pre-chemistry and biology.

Yearly, in Hallbridge Preparatory tradition, studies begin with the study of the self, family and culture, and then focus their studies on studying the environment of the child, topics that are of the interest to the child.

The teacher observes and writes down discussions that lead to “major topics of interest.” The teacher then allows the child to choose methods to develop a study of the topic.  The yearly curriculum shifts so that throughout the child’s stay (usually 5 years) at Hallbridge Preparatory, the child will have been introduced to such topics as Geography, Biology, Botany, Ecology, History, Geology, Astronomy, Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra, Geometry and self-esteem, among others.

Topics are explored through all the senses, fine tuning skills by movement, music and art, hands on use of tools and materials, language acquisition, and exploring taste and expanding visual perceptions. By such exposure, seeds of interest are planted to later be nourished and developed further. Parent meetings and written material will be presented throughout the year to acquaint you more fully with the learning areas.
